What started as uni mates in 2022 quickly turned into something much more. Between lectures and placements, we bonded over our shared love of Tessa, sport and spending money... and maybe our feet just naturally aligned,
Early on, Chris told Sue that “his uni mate Jade” was coming to stay. Sue kindly made up the spare room, only to wake up and find Jade in Chris’s room the next morning. Chris claimed he slept on the couch and gave Jade the bed… a very obvious lie.
Chris knew he was in trouble when he discovered Jade grew up watching WWE with her brothers, Zach and Liam, which explains a lot. He now spends his time talking politics with Zach and engaging in absolute nonsense and elite-level shit talk with Liam. Jade, on the other hand, realised Chris was a keeper when she found out he loves the Backstreet Boys.
Chris stuck around for Lisa’s famous wonton soup, often served to him in bed, while Jade stayed for Tia Maria’s rice, a recipe she’s still trying to crack. With help from Carla and Claudia, Jade’s Chilean cooking skills have since expanded to rice and pebre… progress!
Somewhere along the way, Chris took over the BBQ from Brett, who hasn’t complained once. In fact, he still sets it up like he’s about to cook, only to quietly hand it over.
Brett, and Steve, Jade’s uncle and Brett’s brother, have always been very protective of Jade, but somehow Chris has slipped through the cracks. It turns out having the patience to deal with Jade earns you a lifetime pass.
Chris always said when he found “the one,” he wanted someone with a small family. Jade arrived with not one, but two families, which somehow turned into five sets of grandparents, Ladonna, Kim, Tony, Alison, Bev, Steve, Joan and Gunther, and four in laws, with one always watching his every move from above. Safe to say, that plan didn’t quite work out. Jade is also still trying to count all of Chris’s cousins, aunties and uncles.
Jade also gained two new brothers in Nick and Justin, and yes, Justin is a priest, so Jade is keeping on her best behaviour.
Jade clearly got along well with Chris’s family, so much so that Natasha is now Matron of Honour, although between us, Sabrina might still be her favourite. Aleks is always there to help with anything needed and even more ready to offer his advice.
Josh, Jade’s little cousin, is everyone’s favourite, even the Chileans, although his favourite people are Sue and Michael.
Chris likes to say Amba is our little rebellious daughter, Aleira is his dream daughter and Kijana is our ultimate hype girl. Caroline can decide where she fits into all that family chaos, once she's finished driving around Australia after Aleira and Kijana.
Now, we both work together as podiatrists and somewhat controlled our spending habits living Sue and Michael, where you can hear Michael’s TV from every room in the house. From uni mates, to housemates, to teammates for life, we can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter with all of you!
